Earn Your Degree Anytime and Anywhere

Founded in 1970, Walden is an accredited online university with a proud history of serving the education needs of the military. By providing broad access to quality higher education through distance learning, Walden has become the choice of more than 2,250 veterans and active-duty servicemen and servicewomen.

G.I. Jobs named Walden to its 2016 list of Military Friendly Schools, which honors the top 15% of colleges, universities, and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students.

  • Save 15% on tuition over the lifetime of your program for new students who are a service member, a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, or an employee of the Veteran's Administration. • The Montgomery GI Bill® (MGIB) reimburses tuition costs through an educational assistance allowance.*
  • The Post-9/11 GI Bill applies direct funds to cover a portion of costs for tuition, fees, and books.*
  • Tuition Assistance gives a portion of funds to cover costs of tuition and fees. This program is sponsored by the specific branch of the military you serve.*
  • The Tuition Assistance Top-Up Program provides the remaining funds for tuition costs that are not covered under the Tuition Assistance program.*
  • The VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program offers benefits to veterans with service-connected disabilities.*
  • The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program covers tuition costs that have not been applied under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.*

Active Duty Military, Veteran, and Spousal Benefits

Walden honors the following education benefits for active-duty service members, reservists, and veterans of the armed forces:

Walden is dedicated to supporting the educational and professional success of our military service members. We value your commitment, and we understand your unique needs and situations, such as:

  • Temporary duty (TDY) and temporary additional duty (TAD) commitments.
  • Deployment missions.
  • Schedules that may prevent you from logging in to classes at specified times.
  • Transfer of credits from multiple education institutions.

Earn and Transfer Your Credits

Walden is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. This means you may be eligible to transfer credits from other educational institutions and get a head start on your degree at Walden. For example, Walden accepts certain credits from:

  • Joint Services Transcript
  • CCAF
  • Accredited U.S. universities and community colleges
  • Professional associations

You can also earn credit for military training and from national testing programs that you’ve completed while serving our country. For any type of educational accomplishment you’ve had in an extra-institutional setting that is recognized by the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Center for Adult Learning and Educational Credentials, you can use that experience toward your degree—saving you time and money.
